Overseas Citizen Of India

The Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) is an immigration status authorising a foreign citizen of Indian origin to live and work in the Republic of India indefinitely. The OCI was introduced in response to demands for dual citizenship by the Indian diaspora, particularly in developed countries. A passport holder Of Indian origin should have an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card to be able to travel to India. This acts a lifelong visa to enter India, among other benefits. Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) is given to Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) who immigrated from India and subsequently acquired citizenship of a foreign country.

Indian Passport Service

Your Indian Passport is a valuable document. It should always be either in your own custody or in the custody of a person duly authorized by you. If lost or destroyed, the fact and circumstances should be immediately reported to the nearest Mission and to the local police. Your Indian Passport establishes your identity in a foreign country. Hence it is IMPORTANT to have it re-issued before the date of expiry. The passport can be submitted for re-issue up to one year before the date of expiry. On acquiring Foreign Nationality, the Indian passport should be submitted to the nearest Indian High Commission/Consulate for cancellation.

Indian Police Clearance

The Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is an official document issued to an individual by the Indian Police or an authorised Indian Government official. It identifies any criminal records that an individual may have against their name and provides a clearance certificate if such records are clear. A PCC may be required for Indian or foreign nationals who are residing or have resided in India, An Indian PCC does not have a period of validity endorsed on the certificate. Generally, it is valid for six months, however, this varies considerably based on the authority to which the application is submitted. PCC is issued only to individuals who are over 18 years of age.
